National Skin Penetration & Infection Control Guidelines

Most states and territories in Australia have their own guidelines in regards to "Skin Penetration" and "Infection Control" . These guidelines take precedence over national guidelines. However, if your state or territory guidelines are unspecific and ambiguous you might want to look at a "national" set of guidelines from the Department of Health in regards to the prevention of transmission of infectious diseases in the health care setting.

For the overall guidelines see http://www.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/content/icg-guidelines-index.htm. It covers a wide variety of health and safety issues.

For specific guidelines on reprocessing of reusable instruments and equipment see Part 3, Chapter 16 at http://www.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/content/2804E9F9B95357F7CA256F190003B4DA/$File/part3a.pdf
