Shellac

Postby nails418 » Wed Oct 13, 2010 2:28 pm

Hi Ladies,

Yes I am back it has been a while since I was on here... hope you have all been keeping well!!

I have a question, how are people finding the shellac???

I also read somewhere that NSI have something similar that is meant to also be great.

Any feedback would be most appreciated!!!

Also for those that have purchased it can you let me know where you purchased yours from.

Many thanks!!!! xxxx

Hi, i've been using Shellac for awhile now and find it's great on most people, it stay on and stays shiney for a couple of weeks which is great! I have had a couple of people though that it hasn't stayed on, both had nails that curve down at the tip so that may have something to do with it.
Haven't tried NSI's version but i'd love to know what it's like :)

There are quite a few brands around that have released their version. In our salon we use Gellish & everyone loves it. People who didn't see the point in having polish because they would smudge it or it would chip in 2 days are loving Gellish :)

Oh my gosh, how exciting if Young Naisl bring it out... yay it wouldnt suprise me if they do.

Well I ended up buying the new Gelac over the Shellac, the supplier I went to said that there really wasnt much difference at all in the wear of the product how ever the gelac bottles are twice the size and cost less as well as the shellac only had two colours in stock and would not have anymore for weeks, however with the shellac you can layer the colours to make new colours, i did try this with the gelac the colour is certainly different but not the same as the change with shellac.

But if young nails bring it out then I will give them a try as well.

I think to the supplier said as well that to do the shellac the service costs us about $8 so the Gelac should be at least nearly half that... so I guess with all products on the market there are good and bad points.

Do you think this product will eventually spell the end of traditional gel overlays? I have gel overlays mostly because I need a permanent nail polish (my job requires nail polish and I don't have time to do it daily) the secondary reason is because I work in such a dry environment my nails are prone to peeling. So the gel helps prevent that too. But if this type of product does exactly the same thing there is hardly any reason for maintaining my gel overlays. I could just have a gel polish done every fortnight instead.

Hi there Bettina,

Lovely to see you back :) Been a while :)

I use Shellac in the salon and have no trouble at all. I love it!! and so do my clients. Perrrrrrfect for toes!

It is a bit expensive but definitely worth it. I charge my clients $40 for a full set of Shellac which includes a mini manicure.

Can't wait for the other colors to come out :)
