I do it this way too, never premix my glitters in powder. It does make it look awesome :)

lol bek, i do reverse application then with the colour you lay down a thin coat, apply glitter by double dipping with clear powder and glitter or even put down the clear then glitter on top with the brush, that make sense? anyway then i do the clear cap over that..

for myself i actually just put the colour down quite thin, just enough to give a good base (after reverse bead) i then use my glitter brush (which is just my old acrylic brush) to dip it straight into the glitter and pat straight onto the wet acrylic i have just laid down. i then clear cap straight over top of this. once its all set. The brush is holding any excess glitter that didnt stick to the colour under neath so no smudgies.
