Photo shoot idea

Postby passion_4_nails » Tue Mar 16, 2010 6:25 pm

Hey everyone

Well I have been approached by a local photographer who wants to do an artsy fartsy shoot with a hot set of my nails framing a model's face

So I have been racking my brain what design I want to do.....today I went through all my nail art stuff and laid out everything I have never used.....so I came up with YN mirror balls.....new bling (different size to what I use regularly).....and bullion

Here's what I came up with....

Upon reflection, I think Mel has rubbed off on me

I do have a question though, how do u girls manage to embed that many things?
I am assuming I am oing it wrong, but by the time I cap in clear they end up being soooooooooooooo thick!

Bekki, you push it all into your wet acrylic. So make sure your first layer is thin, push all the goodies in to it, then cap in clear

Lisa, its for advertising for me and a portfolio of different genres for the photographer...why's that??

I figured that's how to do it, obviously my first layer I am doing way too thick.
Thanks Angie, I will try with a thinner first layer. I am guessing I need to work quickly?

PMSL....

They will look great around a model with really dark eyes... i can see it now..

Bek, U need to put a thin thin , super thin layer of colour down first...... so thin it is almost see thru... a wash if u like.
then u push the items into the layer whilst it is still a little wet... one nail at a time....
it is easier when u see it done.. I used to use ezflow and i find they are just to thick and bulky.
Powders like nfu oh and YN are so pigmented that they have a full coverage in only 1mm....

They look really good, I would also be interested in knowing what the photo shoot is for, will the theme/model be chosen to suit your nail design or have you created this design to suit the theme/model?
I love photo shoots they are so much fun.

Ah k, I am going to try on a tip a bit later, thanks so much for the info.
I use INM colours, I find them to be good coverage. But I do them on their own with nothing in them, so I will give them a go :)

nah no reason, just thinking that it may be an idea to keep playing around with desings and dont settle on one untill you are absolutely sure thats what your going to go with, i have worked with to many advertisers, doing their adverts and publications etc, have them settle on one thing then right on deadline they decide "No, might try something else" one in particular was an absolute pain in the rear end, changed his mind 4 times before he decided on the final proof... Then once it was printed he complained cos he wasnt happy with it and wanted it changed, woops, to late...

So basically keep your options on the final design open until you are dead set that the one you keep coming back to will be "The one"

And seeing as its going to be representing YOUR business make sure you put ALL your ideas forward to the photographer, any detail however big or small make sure you let him know...
Thats all...

I agree with Lisa. I love this design but maybe try something a little more exagerated (sp) if it's for advertising you really want it to stand out if you really love this design maybe make it twice as long to give it that something extra and command attention.

I think this design and everything about it is perfect for what you want it for Ange. It shows style, length, colour, features, class and style perfect!

Who's paying for the shoot?

It reminds me of the solar system... representing the sky is the limit with your business/nail desings perhaps???

Anglespot, thats not quite what i was getting at... what i'm trying to say is that unless you have heaps of moola to pay for another photo shoot (if your paying for it, or is the guy doing it for you for free/experience??) then you really need to have some back ups/other options...Just in case...

How many of us have done their nails and thought their design looked brilliant and then a few hours later they decide they didnt like it... i know ihave lol...
